  • Dietary Requirements: We cater to dietary needs, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and Halal meal preferences. To ensure proper arrangements, please inform us of any dietary requirements when completing your booking form.
  • Altitude Awareness: As you ascend to higher altitudes, it’s important to monitor how you feel. Staying hydrated, pacing yourself, and communicating with your guide are key to enjoying a safe and comfortable experience.
  • Single Travelers: The minimum group size for this trek is 2 participants. If you’re traveling solo, we will do our best to match you with an existing group. If no group is available for your requested date, an additional fee may apply to run the trek as a private tour. Let us know during your booking inquiry.

  • 02:30 AM – Depart from Sembalun Crater Rim campsite. Begin the summit trek with a steep ascent over volcanic sand and rocky terrain.
  • 05:30 AM – Arrive at the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726m AMSL). Depending on group fitness and conditions, the summit may be reached between 05:30 and 06:00 AM. Enjoy the sunrise and panoramic views. Warm layers are essential at the top due to cold winds.
  • 07:00 AM – Begin descent from the summit back to Sembalun Crater Rim campsite. Descent typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours but can vary with fitness levels.
  • 09:00 AM – Enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast at the campsite. Take time to rest and prepare for the descent to Sembalun Village.
  • 10:00 AM – Start the descent from the campsite. Trekking poles are highly recommended to ease the strain on knees and enhance stability during the steep downhill walk.
  • 12:30 PM – Break for lunch along the trail. Rest stops and lunch locations will depend on group preferences and pace.
  • 16:00 PM – Arrive at the trail’s end in Sembalun Village. Drivers will be waiting to transport you back to Senaru or your next destination. Fit trekkers may finish earlier, but timings can vary depending on group fitness levels.
  • 17:15 PM – Arrive back in Senaru. Collect belongings from the secure storage facility at Rinjani Climbing Tours and celebrate your accomplishment with refreshments.

Useful Information:

  • Mt Rinjani Summit Ascent: The ascent to the summit is steep and challenging, with loose volcanic gravel underfoot making it harder to maintain footing. Trekking poles are highly recommended for stability and to reduce strain on your legs. Temperatures are often very cold before sunrise, so wear multiple layers, including a warm hat and gloves, to stay comfortable.
  • Summit Conditions: At the summit, it can be windy and freezing, so staying warm while waiting for the sunrise is crucial. Your guide will provide hot drinks to help you stay comfortable. Take time to capture photos of the incredible views, but also pause to appreciate the sense of achievement and natural beauty.
  • Descent to Crater Rim: The descent back to the Sembalun Crater Rim is easier than the ascent but still requires caution due to the loose terrain. Trekking poles are once again useful for added stability. The descent typically takes 1.5–2 hours, depending on individual and group fitness levels.
  • Brunch at Crater Rim: Upon returning to the Crater Rim campsite, you’ll enjoy a hearty brunch to refuel after the summit climb. Take this opportunity to rest and savor the stunning views one last time before breaking camp and beginning your descent.
  • Descent to Sembalun Village: The final descent back to Sembalun Village takes several hours and passes through varying terrain. Be sure to pace yourself, take breaks as needed, and stay hydrated. Your guide will monitor the group’s progress and adjust rest stops as necessary to ensure a safe and comfortable descent.

WHAT CLOTHES SHOULD L WEAR FOR THE TREK?

A quick dry synthetic material shirt (can be either short or long sleeve) as the base layer, a good quality fleece jacket/woollen pull-over as the middle later and a thick wind proof jacket as the outer layer. A waterproof and windproof trekking pants is desirable and a pair of woollen gloves, beanie and scarf for additional cold protection.
